Chaumet traces its origins to 1780, when Marie-Étienne Nitot established his jewellery workshop in Paris. Following the French Revolution, Nitot rose to prominence as the official jeweller to Napoleon Bonaparte, creating ceremonial jewels, imperial regalia, and magnificent tiaras for Empress Joséphine that established Chaumet as one of Europe's foremost jewellery houses.

Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the maison continued serving royalty and aristocracy while developing an unmistakable design language inspired by nature, movement, and lightness. Chaumet also became internationally recognized as the world's leading creator of tiaras, producing more than 2,000 unique designs over its history. Today, its High Jewellery workshop at 12 Place Vendôme preserves centuries-old techniques while embracing contemporary innovation.
