Boucheron was founded in 1858 by Frédéric Boucheron, whose vision was to create jewellery that combined artistic freedom with exceptional technical innovation. In 1893, he became the first contemporary jeweller to establish a boutique on Place Vendôme, selecting the sunniest corner of the square because he believed diamonds would sparkle more brilliantly there.

Throughout its history, Boucheron has pioneered numerous jewellery innovations. The revolutionary Question Mark Necklace, introduced in 1879, eliminated the traditional clasp, allowing women to wear high jewellery independently. Today, under Claire Choisne, the maison continues challenging convention by incorporating unexpected materials—including aerogel, Cofalit®, meteorites, and rattan—into haute joaillerie while preserving exceptional French craftsmanship.
