Known for combining couture-inspired craftsmanship, youthful sophistication, romantic layering, and modern femininity, Vera Wang has expanded from bridal into ready-to-wear, footwear, jewelry, eyewear, fragrance, home, and lifestyle collections. Its aesthetic is defined by sophisticated drama, intricate construction, unexpected proportions, and a nonchalant approach to luxury.

Vera Wang History & Heritage

Before establishing her own company, Vera Wang built an unusually strong fashion foundation. At just 23, she became the youngest-ever fashion editor and stylist at Vogue, remaining there for 16 years before joining Ralph Lauren as a design director. In 1990, Wang opened her first bridal flagship on Madison Avenue, bringing the sophistication of high fashion into a bridal industry she believed was ready for transformation.

The house subsequently expanded far beyond weddings. Ready-to-wear arrived in 2000, followed by fragrance, jewelry, home collections, accessories, and numerous collaborations. Wang's influence on American fashion has been recognized by the CFDA, France's Legion of Honor, and the National Medal of Arts.

Key Milestones:
1990: Vera Wang opens her first flagship bridal salon in New York.
2000: Launch of the Vera Wang ready-to-wear collection.
2002: Introduction of the Vera Wang Signature fragrance.
2005: Wang receives the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award.
2024: WHP Global agrees to acquire the Vera Wang brand, with Wang remaining Founder and Chief Creative Officer and becoming a WHP shareholder.
2026: Vera Wang Haute Spring/Summer 2026, titled Hearts, Flowers and Bows, explores intensely romantic wedding gowns, while the Vera Wang Bride collaboration with Pronovias introduces its latest 2026 collection.

Vera Wang continues demonstrating how high fashion, experimentation, and romantic tradition can coexist within a modern vision of bridal luxury.

“Vera Wang transformed bridal fashion through modern romance, dramatic silhouettes, and couture-inspired design that continues challenging wedding traditions.”
