Hublot History & Heritage

Hublot's story began in 1980, when Italian entrepreneur Carlo Crocco founded the company with an unconventional vision. Instead of following traditional Swiss watchmaking codes, he paired a gold case with a natural rubber strap—an idea that was initially controversial but ultimately revolutionary.

A defining turning point came in 2004, when Jean-Claude Biver joined as CEO. Under his leadership, Hublot introduced the Big Bang in 2005, creating one of the industry's most successful modern watch collections and establishing the philosophy of "The Art of Fusion."

The brand later invested heavily in manufacture capabilities, developing proprietary materials and launching its own in-house movements, allowing Hublot to become one of Swiss watchmaking's most innovative contemporary manufactures.

Key milestones:
• 1980: Carlo Crocco founds Hublot in Switzerland.
• 1980: First luxury watch combining gold with a natural rubber strap.
• 2004: Jean-Claude Biver becomes CEO.
• 2005: Launch of the Big Bang collection.
• 2008: Hublot joins the LVMH Group.
• 2010: Introduction of the in-house UNICO chronograph movement.
• 2022: Launch of the Square Bang Unico.
• 2025: Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Big Bang.
• 2026: Introduction of the Big Bang Reloaded and expansion of the Original Unico family.

Hublot transformed contemporary watchmaking by proving that innovation in materials could become as important as innovation in mechanics.

“Hublot challenged convention. Its strength lies in fusing unconventional materials with contemporary engineering to redefine the modern luxury sports watch.”
