Master watchmaker Franck Muller gained international recognition during the 1980s by restoring some of the world's most important antique timepieces, including watches by Breguet, Patek Philippe, and other historic manufactures. In 1991, together with businessman and case manufacturer Vartan Sirmakes, he established Franck Muller Genève with the goal of creating original complicated watches rather than reproducing historical designs.
